5 Verses for Tired Moms

3 Minutes Read

I LOVE being a mom. The honor of raising my son is an incredible gift.

But right now he’s teasing me with sleep. We’ll have a few great nights followed by a slew of … AWAKE nights.  And I’m tired. That first cup of coffee each morning never tasted so good, and even though I’m drinking decaf, I get still get a placebo pick-me-up. (Thank the Lord!)

I heard a speaker once say, I think it was Perry Noble, that he could describe every woman with a single word.

TIRED.

Motherhood is exhausting—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Even with sufficient sleep, I struggle with new tasks (like cleaning spit up off … everything), new questions (what did people do before google?!) and fighting new worries (is his development on track?). So here are 5 verses I’m clinging to as a newly minted mom. My days—and nights—may be long, but I’m grateful I’m not stuck in the tired place.

5 Verses for Tired Moms

P.S. This first verse reminds me of my post from a few weeks ago, a great reminder to go sit with Jesus.

“Are you tired? Worn out? … Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message

“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” Galatians 6:9-10 The Message

“God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out.” Isaiah 40:28 The Message

“So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 The Message

“Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.” Isaiah 41:10 The Message

Are you tired momma? I hope these verses give you strength for today as God refreshes your spirit.
