Sometimes a woman just needs to feel pretty.

This goes beyond how she actually looks.  It’s deeper, like a flower taking root deep in her emotions and mental self-image.  To look pretty and not feel pretty, it’s basically worthless.  My husband laughs at me, but its the truth!

So today, I share with you some of my go-to tricks for feeling beautiful:

  1. Spend time with God.  Above all else, we gain confidence and peace by spending time with God and allowing Him to minister to us.  You are His beautiful daughter, let him speak to you about who you are and who he created you to be.  This step will do wonders for you, body and spirit!
  2. Spend a bit of time on yourself.  Maybe its time getting ready, to do your hair a special way or spend a bit more time in the shower, or playing with the eye shadow.  But spending more time on yourself could also be as simple as sitting down to enjoy that cup of coffee or getting a quick pedicure.
  3. Highlight your assets.  What’s your favorite feature?  If its your eyes, wear eye shadow to make them pop.  Your legs? Don’t hide them behind baggy pants and tennies.
  4. Drink water!  It hydrates your skin and makes you feel more alert.  The general rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces every day.
  5. Work out.  Even if it’s just a 10 minute walk, exercise releases endorphins that make you feel happier, plus its feels good knowing you are doing good to your body.
  6. Try something different.  Maybe its a new makeup product, a new haircut or dye, or buying a new outfit.
  7. Smile.
  8. Have a good laugh.  Building on #7, watch a comedy or spend time with people who make you laugh.  A good laugh can brighten any day.
  9. Get enough sleep.  Rest can do wonders for your body and your outlook!
  10. Get some good scents.  Pretty smells can put us in the right perspective.  Perhaps fragrant candles in the bathroom while you’re getting ready, body wash, hair product or a new perfume.
  11. Spend time with friends.  Have a girls night.  Go out, have fun!  Spending time with those who care about us reaffirm our acceptance and value.
  12. Show kindness.  This kind of beauty is not fleeting and simple acts of kindness can have your heart feeling more beautiful in no time (plus, it shows on your face).   :)
