Book of Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!

I can’t think of a better way to start this Thanksgiving week than by sharing one of our favorite family traditions: our Book of Thanksgiving.

The concept is simple enough. We bought a beautiful thick leather-bound notebook our first year of marriage—but really, any sort of notebook will do. You want something set apart for this specific use, not the same book you use for grocery lists or whatnot.

Anyway, each year around the Thanksgiving holiday we take time as a family to write things we’re grateful for from the past year. The book is available if family members want to add to it throughout the year, but the primary use is our annual time of Thanksgiving.

What type of items do we write about? Anything!

Our pages include lists and stories.

Records of promotions, provision, healing, and life events.

It’s a fun activity to do as a family and it’s so encouraging to look back at past years and see the way God has provided in different seasons of our lives.

So that’s our longest-standing family tradition in a nutshell.

What do you think? What type of family traditions do you use to commemorate this season of Thanksgiving?
