Question

God, what's something you love about me that I'm not aware of?

Here's the episode transcript

Hey friends, it's Jen, and I'm so excited to spend these few minutes with you here on Good God Talks. We get to talk with God because he is our good father, and he invites us to come near and know him and to be known by him.

And the series that we're on is intentionally short and fun—yes, my hope is that this will be fun for you—and the emphasis of this series is really drawing near to understand more of who we are from God's perspective.
I'm inviting you and encouraging you to explore these conversations with God with follow up questions and in greater detail. My exhortation, my pleading encouragement for you, is to ask God these questions and then to follow up with additional questions.

To ask him to tell you more, or to show you why.
If he gives you a picture, ask him about things that you see in the picture.

If he says something that feels difficult or unfamiliar to you, ask him to show you where it is in the word or to talk with you more about it.

The main passage that is on my heart as we're launching into this series comes from Psalm 139:13 -18. It says:

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! (or How amazing are your thoughts concerning me) How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:13-18 NIV)

God knows us better than we even know ourselves. And it's through our awareness of who God is and how he views us and loves us and cares for us, that we begin to discover more of who we are and how wonderfully we're created.

Another one of my favorite verses comes from Ephesians 2:10 in the NIV. It says:

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)

And so today we're asking God to talk with us more about us, that we would get to know ourselves a little bit more from his perspective. Even as we read in Psalm 139, God knows our in most parts from before we were even formed. And so today we're asking for God to share a little bit more insight with us about ourselves and how he sees us. And here's our question:

God, what's something you love about me that I'm not aware of?

Have a good talk.

And if you've been encouraged by this content, please share it with a friend and help them grow in their conversational relationship with God too!
