Growing up, I was that curious kid … always asking “why?”
What does that mean? How do we know? And my ever-patient parents continually took the time to humor my curiosity. We’d do research together or they’d encourage me to find the answer. “Because” never came with a period—always an explanation.
Considering this prompt for Five Minute Friday I began to consider all the becauses in life. The ripple effects we don’t enjoy or negative consequences we didn’t see coming. But the fruition of cause-and-effect happens because of good things too. Wonderful … incredible … unimaginable things.
So in preparation of my five minutes of writing, I did a brief word study (not included in my time) and would love to share these encouraging because statements with you.
“He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” Psalm 18:19
“May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope,Lord, is in you.” Psalm 25:21
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” Psalm 63:3
“Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 63:7
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” Psalm 91:14
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:25
“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14
“But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.” Romans 8:10
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
I can easily come up with so many becauses. Because I’m tired. Because that’s just the way it is. Because I’m responsible. Today, I’m instructing my heart: Let your motivation, your inspiration, and explanation be because of Christ.
