I've heard it said that God treats us not according to where we are, but corresponding to where we are going and who we are becoming. That He sees the end, and treats us accordingly throughout the whole trip. But what if that's not quite right? What if God treats us with the beginning in mind, not the end?
Sometimes we approach the Bible like an unfamiliar machine. Afraid that we'll somehow get something wrong and ruin the whole experience. Well, I have good news. You can't break the Bible. There are however, some helpful things to keep in mind *and heart* as you get started reading God's Word.
"God, you got the wrong gal." This doubtful statement plays on repeat today, a voiceover scoring numerous discouraging moments. I can think of a hundred reasons why I'm not the best candidate for pretty much everything I have going right now.
Every day I find more women who hate the chick in Proverbs 31. How can she possibly do all this? She never sleeps. Brings food from afar, plants vineyards, sews, knits, runs a business, farms, owns land, and instructs with wisdom as she provides for her family and the needy. Contributing only good. No fear. No idleness. Only strength and dignity. Um yeah, she's "hard to find." Girl doesn't exist ... at least not in this home.
