We reconnect in the whispers. The quiet moments no one else sees.
I love the feeling of your eyes on me from across the room. When you mouth sweet nothings only I can understand.
More than excited shouts, and sometimes even more than laughter, I wait for … long for … whispers.
Your acts of service breathe your love for me. Like a sweet lingering scent, your presence fills our home. The quiet ways you consider me. Your patient understanding and even, your calm instruction.
Volumes louder than the most boisterous conversation, your gentle leadership softens my heart. The imprint of our interactions reminds me of Jesus, and I’m amazed at how often your words remind me of what He’s already spoken in my spirit. His voice … His presence … His love echoes through you.
All this to say, dear husband, thank you for the whispers.
STOP
In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m brimming over with love for my dear hubby this morning. He’s amazing and one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever received from the Lord. But even as my five minutes ran out on the clock, I felt prompted to encourage those of you who may not yet feel this way about your beloved.
With all his wonderful qualities, Jared isn’t perfect. Sometimes our interactions ring with tension or hurt feelings instead of sweet nothings and cuddles. But as his wife, I choose to focus on the good. To train my eyes to recognize shining moments more than lack-luster ones. Ask the Lord to tune your ear to your husband’s whispers. The ways he shows love, even in the smallest moment.
Remembering to hang his bath towel. Picking up dinner on the way home from work. Asking and genuinely listening about your day. Thank him for these whispers and the more you notice them, the louder and sweeter they will ring in your daily lives together. Trust me, I’d know. 🙂
